HIJACK, born 1992 in California, is a contemporary artist prodigy who combines fine art and street art to create work that commands attention and comments on current social and political issues. His practice ranges from one color stencils to paintings to large scale murals. HIJACK is the son of street and pop artist Mr. Brainwash and grew up around renowned street artists such as Space Invader, Banksy, and Shepard Fairey. In April 2013, Hijack took the United Kingdom art scene by storm with his gallery debut at the prestigious Mead Carney Fine Art gallery on Dover Street in London. The show was so highly anticipated that it sold out and extended, due to incredulous high demand and was featured in Art of England’s June 2013 issue, Huffington Post UK, The Art Newspaper, and The Telegraph. Following his debut exhibition, HIJACK continued to gain momentum in the contemporary art world. In October that same year, Hijack was invited, along with Mr. Brainwash, to do an exhibit at the Dieresis Cultural Center in Guadalajara, Mexico. The exhibit was extended for months, attracting large crowds, drawing a mass of media attention, and delighting art collectors and audiences internationally. In June 2014, HIJACK mounted a solo show at Galerie Moretti & Moretti, one of Paris’ best contemporary galleries, entitled “Life Through Street Art,” and that November the young artist had a solo exhibition at Japan’s Gallery 21, which created an avalanche of press. Hijack has collaborated with other internationally-renowned street artists, including New York’s Cope and Japan’s Dragon 76. In 2016, Hijack created a limited edition series of skateboards in collaboration with Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, and John Baldessari. Hijack’s exhibitions have been sensational, refreshing, and thought-provoking, especially at the 2017 ArtMiami and Art Palm Beach. HIJACK is currently based in Los Angeles, California where he continues to push the boundaries as a street artist and rising contemporary art phenomenon.
